Workshop Level: Intermediate: Able to design and create simple projects with minimal guidance; trained on all studio equipment.

Students will choose a letter of the alphabet to work with. This will be communicated to the instructor before the first class as everyone will have different letters. Using that letter as a start, students will design flowers, birds, animal, leaves etc. as a part of the letter. (Refer to the picture for a reference). Design additions will be available or bring your own. This is a lesson in how to design your own pattern using a base design for a starting point. Be sure to bring a sharpened pencil with a good eraser.

General supplies to bring to class:

• Toyo Cutter, Running Pliers, Grozers, Pattern Scissors, Regular scissors, Cutting Surface (Quilt-type or rubber mats work best), metal push pins, copper foil, flux, patina, brushes, soldering board.
• Writing Tools: Black Sharpies (fine and regular), Silver Sharpie, Pen & Pencil with an Eraser
• Other helpful item: A carrying box for project
• Safety Items: Safety glasses, Closed-toe shoes, soldering or glass cutting gloves, Band-aids
