NEW MEMBER ONLY WORKSHOP  

(You are considered a new member for 6 months after joining.)

In this workshop you will learn how to use fiber paper to help design a pocket vase.

The fiber paper helps create a space between your base and the vase shape.The vase will be clear with a design using opaque and/or transparent embellishments such as scrap glass, dots, stringers, frit, etc. The instructors will also provide embellishment materials for those who need them. You can look for some  design ideas by looking at Pinterest under “Fused Pocket Vases”.

You must bring the following materials to this workshop:

* a 12”x12” sheet of clear COE 96 glass

* any embellishment materials you have (scrap glass, dots, frit, stringers, etc.)

* a sheet of papyros (kiln) paper (available at our studio store)

* a 3”x6” piece of 1/4” thick fiber paper (available in our studio store)

* a 12” ruler

* bring $5 to cover the firing fee (The actual cost will depend on the pattern size you choose for your vase, but it 

  will be less than $5.)

You will also need the following basic supplies:

* Glass cutting tools: Toyo Cutter, Running Pliers, Grozers, Nippers, Cutting Surface (Quilt-type mats work best)

* Glues: Elmer’s (clear or white), Needle nosed bottle with non-aerosol hairspray

* Writing Tools: Black Sharpies (fine and regular), Pen & Pencil

* Other helpful items:Tweezers, Toothpicks, A carrying box for projects

* Safety Items: Safety glasses, Closed-toe shoes, Band-aids

* Bring a firing ticket!

IMPORTANT - Please don’t depend on our studio store for glass needed for this workshop. The store’s glass is meant for emergency use.
